PROJECT
Li Ka Shing Center for Health Information and Discovery houses a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary center that combines clinical research with medical applications. The integrated facility is at the forefront of drug discovery for heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer's, and it is adjacent to two other medical research facilities designed by Make. Together, they represent a long-term plan to expand and modernize the Old Road campus of the University of Oxford.
The building was given a distinctive shape with a tapered peak, which reflects its unique role in campus buildings. Inside the spaces are carefully designed laboratories. The body of the building is visible immediately upon entering the campus, creating a pleasant and legible interior design, while the spectacular elm covered staircase is eye-catching as it winds its way through the four-story atrium and unites the floors both physically and visually.
The communication lines were intended to enable collaboration and communication of individual research teams.

BRIDGE
A characteristic sculptural work by Julian Wild entitled "The Origin" was placed in front of the building. It takes the form of a kind of bridge. It consists of two rectangular bars emerging from the ground, which meet in the middle where the network is divided into rectangular blocks. It has a height of 5 m, 12 m long and 2.2 m wide and is made of stainless steel, for the most part painted red. In the center of the bridge halves sculptures break up the network of pixel rectangular blocks, revealing a polished stainless steel core. When the sun shines from the south, the sculpture is reflected in the windows of the building behind it.   The center was officially opened on May 17, 2017.
