PROJECT AND CONSTRUCTION
Moonraker Point building was designed by TRAD at the request of the main contractor – Mansell for the Unite PLC – UK’s leading a student accommodation company.   The initial task was to erect a heavy support structure around the perimeter of the building, which allowed the use of mast climbers on the main external scaffolding, but the real challenge arised on the on the upper levels of the building. On the roof level the three protrusions hanging from the perimeter of the building on the two elevations on which they were supposed to be built required extending the access scaffold more than 3 meters, for fragments that had minimal support inside the building.
During the construction of these brackets, the builders had to work partly on the road, as well as in the vicinity of the firehouse, sports field and the plaza. This hard and challenging localization required a lot of experience as well as extreme caution, but thanks to the use of a harness, the finishing work on the complex, asymmetrical façade was completed without any accident.
