Two Fifty One is a new mixed use development on Southwark Bridge Road in London’s Elephant & Castle district.
The development consists of two buildings – 41-storey residential tower and an 8-storey commercial building. Altogether in the tower there are 335 apartments - studio apartments as well as 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments. All of the apartments share a beautiful view on the London skyline, and most with fully glazed conservatories. The inhabitants have also access for private and shared conference rooms, 11-seat cinema (available for private rent), gymnasium, gym, outdoor garden and restaurant and 24-hour concierge service located in the elegant reception area next to the shared lounge. The 8-storey building adjacent to the tower offers 3,100 sq m of modern office space and 280 sq m of retail space. Located in the heart of the Southwart 41-storey residential tower is part of the extensive revitalization program, goal of which is to improve the appearance of Eileen and the adjacent Elephant & Castle. Two Fifty One is built on a plot of 0.51 acres.
The architectural studio Allies & Morrison was responsible for the design. The Two Fifty One tower is 131 meters high at its highest point - almost three times higher than Nelson's column (52 meters) and one and a half times higher than Big Ben (96 meters).
DEVELOPMENT
Construction took only 70 weeks. Two Fifty One has taken a place at the forefront of innovative designs created with the use of DfMA. The individual components of the building were manufactured in Explore Industrial Park - a production plant belonging to the Laing O'Rourke group.
The components were delivered daily to the construction site and assembled with the use of cranes into the concrete structure and facade. The building façade consists of 1082 concrete slabs with aluminum window and door frames pre-installed in the slabs before the panels were placed on the building. This method significantly accelerated the construction process, ensured greater consistency of the building, construction quality and a safer working environment. Eileen House is an important milestone in the district's landmark regeneration program, and has become Elephant & Castle's most iconic building shortly after its construction.
